We've got ourselves a playable build, and we're super excited about it! Walls move, the player can shoot things, it's a bonafide game!
Closeup of the maze:
Coming soon...gameplay footage!
To test the fun of our game, we created a paper prototype. This aim of this exercise was to prove that our core concept was fun, and to improve the design as best we could before wasting resources on a mediocre idea.
Turns out it was pretty fun!
The digital will game will have significant changes, of course. But this was a good sign we're on the right path.
A bit about Daedalus:
Daedalus is from Greek Mythology. He's the guy who created the Labyrinth of Minotaur fame.
Incidentally, he's also the father of Icarus.
Our game is about escaping a futuristic labyrinth, hence: Project Daedalus
Project Daedalus is underway!
Our goal is to create a VR experience that's fun for everyone in the room. So we're creating Project Daedalus, an asymmetrical multiplayer cooperative-competitive cross-platform bonanza! In short: Mario Party for VR.
Here's how it works:
The VR player attempts to escape a maze before the timer runs out.
Four other players are on their mobile devices, moving the walls of the maze. Two are trying to help, two are trying to slow the runner down.
We'll be sharing news about the game as it develops. We're very excited to be working on this project, and we hope you'll join in the journey!
